We have recently installed a softphone, which is being used in conjunction
with an access database. Does anybody know the code required to allow the
operator to click on a phone number in a form, and the phone to automatically
dial that number?

Thank you for that excellent advice.

I apologise for spending a week trying to get the solution to this problem
before asking this board. I have tried the auto-dialer but it does not open
the softphone (X-Lite) and insists on using a modem to route the call. We use
broadband but I couldn't work out how to get the auto-dialer to use the
softphone and broadband.

I guess we'll just have to dial the number each time.

Amazing what you can find in Access Help:
Open a table or form in Datasheet view or a form in Form view.
On the View menu, point to Toolbars, and then click Customize.
Click the Commands tab in the Customize dialog box.
Click Records in the Categories list.
Drag AutoDialer to the Form view or Datasheet view toolbar, or to a custom
toolbar.
Click Close.
In the form or datasheet, select the phone number you want to dial.
Click AutoDialer on the toolbar.
Check to see that the phone number is entered correctly, and then click OK.
Note You can change your modem options by clicking Setup in the AutoDialer
dialog box

You (everyone) should look to MSAccess Help first. I typed "dial phone" in
help search and came up with the above and it is a lot quicker than waiting
for a response from a board or the usenet. Simplify your life!
