As of today (10-17-08) when I try to Send a new message or forward an
incoming message using Outlook Express 6.0 or Outlook 2002 the message gets
stuck in the Outbox with a returned error message of either (The connection
to the server has failed. Account: '9SecVega', Server: 'smtp.comcast.net',
Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number:
0x800CCC0E) ...or the message of (The connection to the server has failed.
Account: '9SecVega', Server: 'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10053, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F). I have
reloaded IE 7.0 several times with no improvement. I am running Windows XP
Home Edition V 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3 Build 2600, Outlook 2002, and Outlook
Express 6.0. I do not have any saved messages in the default files at all.
I religiously dump deleted items several times a day. i can send mail from
Yahoo, Hotmail, and my Web based server Comcast using a LAN connection.
Norton/Symantec e-mail filters are disabled. Can someone please help/assist
me???

I think I have corrected my own problem! I changed my Outgoing Mail (SMTP)
server number from 25 to 587 and mail seems to be leaving the outbox and
going to the sent file as it should. For now anyway! Although, I am
clueless as to why all of a sudden this changed after 7 years of no previous
problems. Go figure!!
