Selected to enable boot from keyboard in BIOS : does not work !

Hi,

don't know if BIOS problem or XP problem.

Asus P4C800-E Deluxe Mobo
Have enabled in BIOS the boot on keyboard feature ( just as boot from LAN /
modem) or "awake" if you prefer. Mobo allows it ( suppose so, since BIOS
option and is cited in manual)

However if I shutdown, nothing happens when I hit the keyboard.

Is there something I need to do elsewhere ?

TIA !

If the keyboard is USB then this may not work. PS/2 type should work just
fine. In the case of USB type, there may be additional settings in BIOS to
use USB type of keyboard but even then, it only may be there in order to be
able to boot to a floppy and/or to enter the BIOS.

It can also be a hardware issue as i've had this issue once on an
Asustek A7V333 board.
For my board there was a setting in BIOS setup program, but also a
jumper on the board to enable/disable this.
I had both enabled but still no go. I moved the jumper to disabled and
tried, then back to enabled and tried again and then suddenly it started
working.
Someone told me these jumpers can go/be bad so you could also try
another one, while in my case i just had to get the little bugger some
excercise.

Worth checking out. HTH.

Just want to add that there is another prerequisite for it to work on
the A7V333. The Power Supply Unit (PSU) has to be able to supply ≥ 300mA
on the (+5V_SB) StandBy Lead.
Check your motherboard manual and your PSU to confirm you have the goods
needed.

Thanks. Problem was the jumper on the MoBo ( had not seen that mentionned in
the manual ( although it is mentionned but elsewhere !)
Asus should have referenced that in the BIOS - keyboard awakening part !
Thanks again.

Glad you worked it out.
