Select Names Sort in New Message

Gladys

When creating a new message you select "To". In
the "select Names" dialog box the names are sorted by
first name here, even though I have file as Last,First.
Is there a way to have Outlook's Select Names dialog box
sort the names as is the contact list?

Using Outlook 2003

address books > Outlook Address Book > Change. > Set your sort order there

Hi Gladys

Try this.
1. Sort the Contacts list by the File As field:

a. Start Outlook 2002.

b. On the Tools menu, click "E-mail accounts".

c. Click "View or change existing directories or address
books", and then click Next.

d. Click "Outlook Address Book", and then click Change.

e. Under Outlook Address Books, click Contacts: Mailbox -
Mailbox Name, and then click File As(Smith, John).

f. Click Close, and then click Finish.

NOTE: The File As field contains the "last name, first
name" (without quotation marks) sort order by default.

2. Verify that the newly created contacts are filed
in "last name, first name" order:

a. On the Tools menu, click Options.

b. Click the Preferences tab, and then click Contact
Options.

c. In the Contacts Options dialog box, click Last, First
in the "Default "File As" order" list.

d. Click OK twice.

3. Restart Outlook 2002 to view the new Contacts list
sort order.
