"Select All" Option not available Word 2003

I have used the system evaluation version of Word 2003 and have just bought
and installed the Office Professional 2003. In both versions the "Select
All" option is not available (grayed out) in the Styles Task Pane. I used
this option a LOT in my old Word 2002. Is there an something somewhere that
I must de/activate to turn on this feature?

That option is not available unless you have "Keep track of formatting"
enabled on the Edit tab of Tools | Options.

Thanks! That did it. I did not realize that was what drove the option in
my Word 2002 version. BTW, am I wasting my keystrokes to send a suggestion
to the MS folks that this would be a good thing to include in Help on the
Select All topic? I did not find this info anywhere I looked.
Again, thanks for your help, it is much appreciated!

Note that in Word 2002 and 2003, the offline Help is just a starting point.
The trend is to ship apps with minimum Help and supply the rest online.

No, you aren't wasting keystrokes when you send feedback to Microsoft
using the "Was this information helpful" commands at the bottom of the
page.

They utilize this information to create and update Help content.
Feedback and ratings is an area they have put a lot of effort into
developing in the last few years and they've already updated a lot of
Help content as a result of user feedback.

I submitted feedback on the "Keep track of formatting" option on the
following topic so if you haven't already sent feedback, sending it
for the same topic will help make it visible and increase the chances
of getting it modified:

Note only Office 2003 users will be able to utilize the above link.
Also if you have Office 2003 feel free to your feedback for the need
to have the Tools | Options | Edit "Keep track of formatting option"
turned on in order to utilize the "Select all text with the same
formatting" command too. :)

I don't think the plan is to ship with minimum Help but rather to keep
Help updated with the online content.

Granted some of the Help content in Office 2003 can be difficult to
actually find, considering the inferior Help tools they provided with
Office 2003, but I've found a lot of the content in all of the
applications is actually more detailed than in previous versions.
