Segmented network required?

I am trying to set up my home network in the following way in order to
maintain good internet access and maximise the ability to stream from xbox
360 to my media center 2005 - how can the following be configured to work:

Internet Connection <-wired to-> wireless adsl modem router (1) <-wireless
to-> wireless router (2) <-wired to-> media center and xbox 360

Essentially, wired connection between the xbox 360 and the media center via
router 2 - this is intended to connect to router 1 to provide internet access.

Can anyone please advise on how to get this connected up and working?

If I understand you correctly, you cannot or do not want to connect the two
routers by ethernet cable. Some devices support router to router or router
to access point wireless bridging. However, this is highly product
specific. See - eg.:
