How Can I see extension for files in Vista, in Windows for example in XP:

Tools - Folder Options - View
(Uncheck) Hide extensions for known file types

Same way, really. Go to Control Panel and:

Classic View - Folder Options>View tab
Vista Control Panel View - Appearance and Personalization>Show Hidden
Files or Folders

Uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types", Apply/OK out.

In addition to Malke's excellent answer, you can also go to a command prompt
and enter the "assoc" command, to view and/or modify file associations. This
command works the same on Vista as it did on XP.

The "ftype" command also shows interesting information about file
associations.

Do an "assoc /?" and "ftype /?" for full syntax.
