Security Update for Windows XP (KB835732)

Security Update for Windows XP (KB835732) is successfully installed via auto update or windows update, but then it continues to try to install over and over as if it were never installed. I have turned off auto update because it keeps trying to reinstall this update. what is wrong?

It was not completely installed, quite possibly because you left your virus
scanner or other blocking software on while installing. You should always
disable this type of software when installing updates. So, with all
filtering software temporarily turned off, install the update again.
