security tab missing in file properties

I upgraded from xp home to xp professional to get better
file security, but the file security tab is missing in
file properties.

Why?

Have you got simple file sharing still enabled? You need to disable it,
have a look here http://tinyurl.com/g2ov for the instructions.

Two things;
1. You must be using NTFS and not FAT32:

2. You need to disable Simple File Sharing:
