secured database

I have a database that was created and secured by a
former employee. It doesn't prompt for a username or
password, so everyone seems to have user privileges only.
I need to relink the ODBC, but I do nt know how to gain
full access. Can anyone tell me a way to "unsecure" the
database? Thanks.

Hi te,

How are users getting into the database? Through a shortcut? Can you get
into the database from Access (i.e. File>>Open)?

If it doesnt prompt for a username or password, your database may not have
been secured (or, at least, not properly secured).

They get in through a short cut, but there is no ability
to access design mode. With the new ODBC loaded, Access
gives an Odbc error and closes the database. This is the
same using the short cut or file/open method. As a
result, I do not have the option to reconfigure the odbc.
It's very confusing. Thanks for any help.

I finally realized he disabled some tool bars that would
allow me to access the menus I needed. The help utility
described holding down the shift keys at startup. Thanks.

Hi te

Glad you found it. Also realize that he could have disabled "holding down
the shift key" as well. Do a search on google for AllowBypassKey, this will
give you more information on how to enable and disable it. Just in case you
found yourself in a similar situation in the future.
