What does this HW installation error message mean?

Something in my WinXP setup causes this to pop up when
new hardware is added.

Help!

Look at the end of C:\Windows\Setupapi.log to see what .inf file it was
trying to load from. If it is an OEMxx.INF file, then delete it from
c:\Windows\Inf and try again.

.
Here is the section where the installation fails. The INF
file is the umax.inf file provided by Windows. Umax Tech
Support says this should work. (The correct driver will
be for an Astra 2000).

Suggestion?

(Thanks for responding!)

Sorry, can't give you a solution. I looked through my setupi.log and
found that the same "Image" was loaded when I setup windows:-
#-199 Executing "C:\WINDOWS\system32\setup.exe" with command line: setup -newsetup
#I140 Installing device class: "Image" {6bdd1fc6-810f-11d0-bec7-08002be2092f}.
#I141 Class install completed with no errors.

I have a USB digital camera that loaded to the same 6bdd1fc6... code
using an inf file that had a commented out [ClassInstall32] section - so
it worked for me without that section. It never tried to load class
"Image" again.

Only suggestion I have is to do a repair install of XP and see if the
setup will load that class correctly with the scanner connected.
