Second Hard Drive & unwanted files

I have recently added a new large hard drive to my computer running on XP
Home and would like to use the previous hard drive as an added source of
storage space.

Can I remove the Windows XP files the old drive and wipe it clean before I
commence storing data on it?

Do I just delete everything or should I re-format?

I'm not sure what you have done. Is the new drive "a slave"? Or, have
you reloaded XP from CD onto this new drive and it is now the master
drive? If this is the scenario, then you can wipe the old drive (*AFTER
YOU HAVE COPIED THE DATA ACROSS TO THE NEW DRIVE!*) and use it as a
back - up for data files.

Be careful. If you have uncertainties, post back before doing anything!

Hello Clot,

I am using the new as my C Drive and the old one is Drive E and it is still
as I had it before the new drive was installed. I have copied all of the data
that I need from it. I am not sure of the full meaning of slave drive but I
was hoping to just use the drive E as a giant floppy ie. no systems data.

Provided you now have all systems up and running on the new C drive, you
should have no rpoblems with what you propose.
