Searching Inbox in Outlook 2003

Stephen Barrett

Earlier this month we upgraded to Outlook 2003. When I search my Inbox
messages, the search starts with the message that came in on 11/2 (the
date we upgraded the software), goes backwards in time and then starts
looking at emails that came if after 11/2.

This takes a long time if I am looking for a message that came in last
week.

How do I fix this?

Use the advanced search feature and tell it the message you were looking for
was received in the past month.

It is a lot of extra work to use the advanced search feature when all
I'm trying to do is get the most recent email on a selected
topic/person. The issue is that Outlook 2003 apparently indexes
differently than previous versions and the searches always start with
the oldest moving to the most recent.
From a functionality perspective, I desire to find the most recent and
go backward (kind of like this group here.

I paid Microsoft support to tell me that this change occured with
Outlook 2003. Arrrgh.

Thanks anyway.
