Hello NG,

I've got an old machine here. It'll be good enough for working and
writing some texts... So I just built it into a nice case. The case
itself has front-panel USB connectors. As I plugged in the cables for
power button and other things I found some free connectors on the
mainboard. The computer has got 2 USB ports on the back of the
mainbaord. Now I am wondering if I could connect the front-panel USB
ports with the mainbaord. Unfortunately I don't know its exactly name
and so I cannot download any documentation.

Here the computers values:
* built by Fujitsu Siemens in about 1998
* Pentium III with 500 MHz
* 128 MB of RAM
* 19 GB harddisk by Western Digital
* integrated sound device
* no LAN onboard
* CD-ROM drive

I hope anybody knows how these systems were called. I guess it is any
item from the Scaleo T series but I don't know anything in detail.

By the way: If you know any particular documentation or a good place to
find such docs please tell me, too.

Thanks for reading

You do not really need the documentation...
all you need to do is carefully look at the motherboard to see if it has USB
headers ...
they should be labeled

Hello Philo,

thanks for your message. The question is now answered. Unfortunately the
board does not support any more USB ports.

I looked at the board and found no such labels. But I discovered a big
label telling the name of the board:-D (no clue how I got to manage not
to see it before)

It's a M6VBE-A. Google gives nice results so that I could identify the
board easily.

Thanks for help

Well, if you need to add more USB ports
you can always put in a PCI- usb card

No, I don't need more USB ports. It's just that the connectors at the
back of the case are a bit difficult to reach. So I wondered, if I could
use the both ones at the front side. I know standard USB cables would be
a possibility but I don't want to spend more money for this computer.
