search results view - not able to customize?

When using the search tool, the results show in a view
(thumbnail, list, etc) that seems predetermined.

Try as I may, I am unable to find a way to change
the default view that's used.

For example, if I search for avi files, the results
view is *always* thumbnails. I'd like something else,
but even if I change it, next time I search on
avi files, it's thumbnails again.

In any folder you open change the view settings manually.

But to establish default viewing go to the control panel,
go to Folder Options, go to View, in that list check the
box that says, Remember each folders view settings, hit
apply say ok.

Each time you customize a window, let's say for view as
list it should always open that way.

Thanks for the info, but don't those folder
options relate to the folder display in windows explorer
only?
I'm talking about the search results you get when you
use START/SEARCH. The display of "found" files do
not honor or remember any setting that I'm unable to
find, but seem to fall back on some defaults,
as I mentioned in my first post.

Unfortunately it does just that, which annoys me too, and I have been
unable to find a solution.

Alex,
thanks for confirming my suspicions.

It seems remarkable that this tool, with all it's
many options, should have overlooked this.
