Search Indexer Option buttons greyed out

Hi,

following an exchange of movable discs I wanted to update the settings of Windows Search Indexing.

The frame for setting the Options remains empty, 'waiting for receiving indexingstatus' (or similar) .

Change and Advanced buttons are greyed out.

The service is running and shown in Device Task Manager.

Any suggestions howto activate/repair the settings buttons again?

Looking forward,

Maria

Hi all,

just happened to find this great article:

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/85803-index-windows-search-service.html

of which chapter 2, "Reset the Index in the Registry:"
did the trick.

Hope it works for you too.

Ciao, Maria

THank you. In my case the diagnosis "Additionally, the Windows Desktop Search service does not
start." was not true i.e. it was running albeit unsuccessful.
