Search doesn't find emails

V

Vasco

There are emails in my inbox which I cannot get Vista search or Outlook
search to find. I've tried a few of the suggested fixes like reindexing and
changing the properties of the search engine to include contents for RTF
files. None of thses fixes have worked.

If this problem was only in Vista search and Outlook search worked, even if
more slowly, I wouldn't care. But, neither type of search will turn up the
emails. Two of the ones I notice can't be found are plain text messages. But
I sent them as HTML and search doesn't find the sent one's either.

This is big step backwards from XP/Outlook 2003 if I can't rely on search to
find things. Anyone have any suggestions or have the same problem?

Until the good folks at MS acknowledge this problem and come up with a
solution, try this -

go to Tools \ Options \ Search - Search Option and deselect the option for
Indexing.

Search will still work work consistently, but if you pause and work just a
little slower, you can still get search results.

For me, I'd like for MS to admit there is a problem, that they are aware of
it, and are busy working on a solution.

Until then, deselect the Indexing option.
