Search Component Problem

I put the standard web search component on the website I am working on. It
works fine except for one thing. I have this one folder that I want it to
exclude in the search. I read in a couple places that if you place an
underscore in front of the folder name it will make it hidden, and the search
will ignore it. I did that and pages are still coming up in the results. It
is frustrating me and i was just wondering if anyone had some advice.

Did you run a Tools | Recalculate Hyperlink command on the /live/remote server after renaming the
folder?

I tried to, but some message was popping up saying "I didn't have permission
to perform this" I figured that might have been the problem.
