search companion

When I use search companion to search my hard drive for a word or phrase in
a specific folder that I know is in that folder it does not find it. I go to
all files and folders and I type in the word I am looking for in the "a word
or phrase in the folder" box and under advanced options have chosen search
subfolders. It will find the word in the name of a file but not in the file.
I have all critical XP updates installed. Would the type of file I am
searching in have anything to do with it?

Hi,

There's a known problem with text searching, and your guess about the file
type playing a part is spot-on.

Doug Knox has written a good summary of the problem and offers a fix for it,
here:

Hope this helps, and Happy New Year!
