Search box used to give an option for previous searches - now miss

I found option of showing or not showing previous searches really useful. It
now seems to have disappeared. Help section says can amend using customise,
but this does not give me the options I need. Can anyone help? thank you I
use Internet Explorer 6 with an MSN search box. But willing to change.

Hi Jennie :)

There are several recent threads in this newsgroup that deal with this
problem. It appears that Search feature is no longer available, and there
is no way to reset, reinstall or repair it. You will not be able to get it
back, therefore, you will need to find another Search program.

There are many available, and the one that I recommend, and use myself, is
Copernic Agent. It uses a combination of default search engines, including
MSN, Google, AOL, Yahoo and several others, and you can add or remove as you
wish.
Program information - Free
http://www.copernic.com/en/products/agent/basic.html
If you'd like to try it, you can download it here.
Download - Basic (Free)
http://www.copernic.com/en/products/agent/download.html
(works with IE and Netscape)

Hope this helps.

Jan Thank you for your reply. Looked at Copernic but a bit wary when I
found it was Cananda. Don't know where you are based but I am in UK- will
this matter or make any difference.

No..not at all. It uses a number of the well used search engines such as
Yahoo, Google, AltaVista, Lycros, CompuServ, AOL, MSN and many more. You
can also customize the selection of search engines as you like by creating a
combination of search engines that you prefer to use. And there is also a
Favorites list of categories you can use or customize to your liking as
well.

I live in the eastern USA, and I do a ton of research in my own work and in
helping in the newsgroups and forums, and it has been my only search source
since being put on to it in this very newsgroup 4 years ago. I don't like
the UI of Google, or Yahoo, nor the gobs of unrelated returns that you get
with them and others on their own, and I have no problems searching all the
sites I want. I can add or remove as suits my needs.

Hope this helps

Hi doug :)
any fix yet for this problem

Not as yet. I passed on the problem report and support informaton from
other threads of the same problem to the folks as MS. It is apparently not
a problem that is limited to XP, as there are those using W98 and other
versions of Windows that are experiencing the same problem, but, it is seems
that it is not not affecting all Users. My W2K is fine, my XP is having the
same Search problem as others here. Hopefully, they will be able to resolve
the issue soon. :)
