I represent an enterprise looking to buy some high capacity hard

I know Seagate is the one to go with small and fast drives (Cheetah
are excellent), but what would you choose for
600-1000GB range?

or hitachi:

Definitely not Seagate, unless you can ensure you get drives not made in
chiona. These seem to be abysmally badly made and Q/A is a joke.

What about Hitachi.. are they well made? We'd be reaching for the ones
with 3yr warranty so we might get the ones from Japan.

The babblebot got one (that's a full 1.00000000000000)
drives from China with the cemented lid of an Xtal missing.
Now all drives made in China are bad.

As well made as Seagates are. They may well come from the same factory.

If you are so overly well informed, why are you even asking.

I have several Seagate HDDs made in China bought 3 years ago and still
working good. There IS a difference between Chinese products and those
produced by Multi Nationals using Chinese labor.

Not only that, I have also several motherboards made in China, oldest
one is also 3 years old and I never had any problem with them.

The one (that's a full 1.00000000000000) probably suffered damage in
handling at the distributor end.

No, it did not. If it had, the fragments would have been in the ESD
bag. There were none. This one was packed broken by Seagate and
that is what I take exception with. They broke it and their Q/A did
not catch the problem.

Had the quarz case been broken later, there would have been both
fragments in and markings on the bag, since these are very hard to
break. In that case, I would just have assumed bad handling by
the distributor and not cared overly much.

What problem, you didn't even try it.

Nonsense.
The foto you showed in didn't show any sign of that whatsoever.
The quarz base and lid just got seperated as the bonding cement broke.
No signs of any brute force.

Because the distributor would likely not be Chinese, right Babblebot?
