Seagate SATA ST380013AS NOISY!!!

The drive works fine. BUT IS NOISY!!! Interesting that Seagate gives a
spec of "Idle acoustics of 2.5 bels- the industry's best." But who cares
how the drive sounds when it's not doing anything?? What matters is how a
drive sounds when it's reading and writing data. And that's where this
drive sucks. I am so disappointed in this drive. Tried several utilities
and they all say the same thing - Accoustic Management isn't supported.

I have a Seagate PATA and you wouldn't even know it was plugged in, if it
weren't for the fact that it was reading and writing data. But the
ST380013AS SATA is a chuga chuga chuga drive. Do not buy this drive for a
desktop application. You will regret your decision just like I have! It
is a noisy drive!!!

Try the Feature Tool (v1.94) from here:
http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/download.htm

It worked for me on a Barracuda IV.

As was written, you can't enable what ain't there. Tried the Feature Tool,
and it says that AAM isn't supported, so it can't be enabled. Also tried
seaaam.exe, and that didn't work either. AAM simply isn't enabled and
present with the Serial ATA ST380013AS. Why Seagate did this I have no
idea. But it's a noisy drive. CHUGA CHUGA CHUGA.
