Script or app to Check for SAV Def dates at login

Hi,

I have just about completed a seat of the pants Network Access Control
system without paying ridiculous money to buy one. The one thing I am
struggling with is how to check the definition date and engine version
for Symantec AV when a user logs in. Thi is logging onto a Win2K3 AD
domain. Is there a GPO somewhere or some logon script that I can use
to verify a user has relatively recent updates? This would be very
cool.

Thanks in advance

The usual trick is to find out in the NAV installation folder which
one is the pattern file, then to monitor its date. No need to pay
any money for this and no need to get a degree in scripting
either! :)
