Script errors IE 6.0 and Win XP/printing

Hi:

Unable to print from Print-Preview or my IE 6.0 browser. I get "Line 228:
class doesn't support automation shdoclc.dll/preview.dlg"

Norton is UTD; Adaware-6.0 scan found my system clean. I can print from
MSWord. I went to the Advanced tab and looked at Enable 3rd Party browser
sexton and Disable script debugging. Settings are correct. I checked my
version of dispex.dll. It is correct. Surfairypp.dll was not found.

Lots of surfing displays many "solutions", but I have been unable to solve
my issue.

Thanks.

my issue.

Did you see my recent discussion with Paul Pietromonaco too? <eg>

Specifically check out the diagnostic technique which uses FileMon
to find the script source of Preview page implementation.
Doing that would allow you to figure out what was happening at Line 228:
(and earlier); so then you would have a better clue about what else
you could try or even identify what is wrong.

Hi Robert:

I took a look at the results of FileMon but could not understand the output
enough to see what was happening at Line 228. I read a few posts about SP2
screwing with some files, so I went to Control Panel and deleted SP2. I
reloaded SP2 after a reboot and Print Preview and Print is once again
available from my browser. All 10 computers in my networked office are
running WIN XP Professional, and all were updated to SP2 months ago. Not sure
<if> reloading SP2 on this computer was the 100% solution, but I wanted to
share a possible fix with others.

Thanks again for your time and suggestions.

You missed the point I think. FileMon just showed me the name
of the file the script was running out of and that file's location.
With that information I was able to open the script e.g. in Notepad
and then from there you would have to determine where line 228 is
and why an error would be occurring there. Note that you have to do
it while the Print Preview window is still open. As soon as you close it
the script file is deleted.

The only other alternative would be activating a script debugger
but I don't know if that is possible with that dialog.

Another interpretation would be that perhaps your original install of XPsp2

Thanks for the feedback.
