screensaver wont password protect

i have vista 64 bit home premium. i have the screen saver box checked to go
to login screen on resume but whenever i resume it just goes back to where i
was and never to the login. this is my personal computer and i have admin
account.
it has never worked

But is there a password setup on the account you use in the first place?
There is a dependency there whether your User Account is password protected
before you can set a password on the Screensaver.
