ScreenSaver kicks out the networking! Help!!

Hi,

I have purchased a WinXP (HomeMediaEd) last month. I have it networked into
the existing LAN at home that hosts other machines (WinXP, 2K, Linux,
Solaris).

I noticed a strange phenomena and I need some expert help/suggestion: The PC
loses network connectivity when the screensaver kicks in! I have checked the
power options - and they are set to "Turn of Monitor after 5 hours" and it
does not seem to influence. What am I missing?

Once I move the mouse to exit the screensaver, it all comes back to normal
(and the BitComet would try and re-establish connection). During the time
the screensaver is on, none of the other computers on the LAN can reach it.
Also, it does not matter what screensaver I choose.

Any help please!

What are the power settings?

Control Panel > Power Options.

What are the power settings?

Control Panel > Power Options.

As I have said in my post above, the power settings are "Turn off Monitor
after 5 hours". In other words, this is how the settings look:
Turn off Monitor: After 5 hours
Turn off hard disk: Never
System standby: Never
System hibernates: Never

What are the power settings for the network adapter? If "Allow the computer to
turn off this device to save power" is enabled, you will indeed lose network
connectivity when power management kicks in. This will be about the time that
the screen saver is activated.

Look in the settings for the network card, and also in the BIOS setup of the
computer. Look for something that pertains to allowing the computer to wake
up on LAN, or from being addressed through a network connection.
