Hello group:
I leave my pooter on all the time, keeping Outlook Express loaded and
polling every 15 mins. I use the WinXP 3D screensaver, set to come on at 15
mins and to display welcome screen on resume, power settings turn off
monitor 1hr, turn off HDs 2hrs, system standby never. Fast user switching is
on and when leaving the machine I lock down with win+L.
Thing is, the last couple of weeks when I come back to the pooter the next
day, say, the monitor is on and I'm at the logon screen-not even the screen
saver. I know for sure no-one else has been using it. Everything used to
work fine before. The only changes I've made is to disable some of the
sevices I didn't need eg Alerter and Computer Browser (it's a stand-alone
machine, although it's permanently online via ADSL). I guess OE must wake up
the HDs when it grabs emails, but that wouldn't knock out the screensaver,
much less turn on the monitor, would it? Whassup?
Merry Christmas from Tony.
