Screen Size and Hertz

My LCD monitor recently died and I replaced it with an old CRT (MAG
Innovision) monitor. After dinking with the settings, I noticed that
the screen size would vary with the Hertz settings.

Most of the descriptions I could find about Hertz only mention
'flickering' at the lower Hertz (60Hz) rates, and I could find nothing
on the actual screen size based on Hertz. (Interestingly enough, I
don't see any flicker anywhere in the range from 60-75Hz.)

Is this just something peculiar to this monitor, or do all (non-LCD)
monitors change the screen size as a function of Hertz?

They shouldn't, but keep in mind that most CRT monitors
(at least most from the last decade or so) store adjustment
parameters on a timing-dependent basis. You may need to
readjust (and re-store) the settings for size, geometry, etc.
for whatever timings you commonly use.
