Screen saver does not work

I have a new computer with XP Pro and SP2. I cannot get either the screen
saver of power management to work. No matter what I use for the scree saver
it does not go on. I would really appreciate any suggestions.

Do you have any errors in your event logs? Something may be running that is
preventing the screensaver from kicking in. What software do you run? What's
in your system tray?
