Screen goes blank while working

My Shuttle Spacewalker running XP Professional has had a
problem for the past few months. It will be working fine,
then suddenly the next keystroke or mouse click will cause
the screen to go black-or it may turn a solid color
(white, green, purple, etc). It is completely
unpredictable when this will happen. It has even happened
when the computer is booting up or re-starting. When this
happens the keyboard and mouse go dead as well. Ctrl-Alt-
Delete does nothing. The only thing I can do when this
happens is turn the computer off with the on-off button
and then restart it. (After waiting 30 seconds, of
course.) I asked someone at a computer store about this
and was told the only thing to do is bring it in and have
each component tested. Anyone seen this problem before?

Hi,
Go to the Event Viewer and check the exact cause of the problem.Update
all the drivers.seems to me a graphic/video card problem.You
check/update the driver.

Tonight my hard drive died. Won't even boot from a boot
disc. I put in another hard drive I had with Win 95 on it
and the computer works fine now. (Except that it's Win
95). Thank you to all who tried to help me.
