Screen apperance and how to change it.

Ok Guys and Gals, I don't know where to look or what topic to look for so I
came here.

I have somehow changed a setting and I have no idea what I changed or how to
set it back.

Here's how it looks if one does the following. From the desktop select "My
Computer". The result produces a screen with two sections, the right being a
listing of drives, the control panel, and any shared folders with the left
being a mishmash of other items starting with "System Tasks".

How do I get rid of the column on the left?

Thanks a Million!

Try this:

1) at the top there is a MENU bar. Just below it there should be
various icons of which one should be labelled "Folders". Click on it
once and all the gibberish on the left will disappear. Click on it
again and you get all the rubbish back. The icon is a toggle switch
and you can change it as you wish.

Hope this helps.

How to remove the Folder Tree:

1. Copy below and paste into Notepad.

----------copy-inside-only----------
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell]
@=-

----------copy-inside-only----------

2. Save-as NoFolderTree.reg (or any name + .reg)

3. Double-click or right-click and Merge into the registry.

Thanks for responding. The toggle is just that - it changes the view. I
want to get rid of both views and just have nothing but a list of files or a
screen of thumbnails and nothing else.

Thanks, Robert

If you also want folders in a single pane...

Apply to all folders
