Scrabble Complete

I am playing Scrabble Complete by Infogrames on my computer with Windows XP
Home. In order to play it I have to shut down my firewall (thereby having to
disconnet from the Internet) and disable Norton AntiVirus.
Even then, after some playtime, the program starts to slow down, the tiles
hanging when trying to move them.
Does anyone know what is causing this? The program is supposedly made to run
with XP.
I suspect that some computer operation running in the background might be
conflicting or using a lot of memory but do not have a clue as to what it
might be.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Are you perhaps selecting "Exit" of the Norton AV icon in the system tray
area (near the clock)? If so, that only closes the icon out, and does not
exit Norton. It is still running in the background, hidden from you.

Complete icon my screen goes black...I have to wait a few minutes, I press
escape the game shows up....i play a game, submit my word, then an error
message comes up and closes the game after submitting my first word. What
