Scheduling problem

J

jvx

Since a few days, the automatic update schedule and scan
schedule are inactive. After setting the schedule, a
messagebox says that the settings are saved, but this is
not so, when MS antispy is restarted, the schedule is again
inactive.
Also, even after a manual signature-update, the Spyware
Definition reverts to Version 5725

Any ideas to what is wrong here?
Thanks

Can you try an update install, to see whether it rectifies either issue?

Start, control panel, add or remove programs, Microsoft Antispyware, change,
update.

Somebody posted a solution that worked for me. Ill post
it here. It will work for the meanwhile till it gets
fixed.
Go to control panel, set your region and language to US,
then change the time. It will sta at the correct time.
Then you can switch your region back to what it was
previously, and the scan schedule will stay at the
same/right time. For more detailed info, seach about for
the specific post in "general" forums.

This trick did not solve the problem for me.
None of the scan options i set, are saved. MSAS displays a message box
saying that the options are saved, but when i cklick the OK button, the
options revert to the original settings.
Any more suggestions?

Thanks,
Jan

Change the clock from a 24 hour one to a 12 hour one. It worked for me,
although it's a bit of a nuisance as I prefer the 24 hour clock. I am on UK
settings by the way. When I want the scan done at 7pm it is done at 7pm
.....wow............

There is a bug in the scheduler that resets the time back
12 hours. EG if you set it to 20:00 hours it reverts to
08:00 or 8 am.

Correct. To work around it, set your clock format temporarily to a 12-hour
setting. One way to do this is to chose US English as the language. Once
the schedule is set, you can change the setting back.

In my case when I changed the settings back to 24hr clock the scheduler
reverted back to the original problem........

Hmm.. Let me try to phrase that better:

If you cannot schedule tasks in the afternoon, because you are on a 24 hour
time format:

Set the time format or locale to a 12 hour one.

Schedule the tasks.

Reset the time format or locale to the original setting.

The tasks should read correctly, and take place at the scheduled times, but
you still won't be able to change or add scheduled items in the afternoon
without going through the format change.

So--what I'm saying is that tasks scheduled in the afternoon while set to
12-hour should still look correct, and happen at the correct times, even
with the clock set back to 24-hour.

However, you still won't be able to schedule afternoon tasks without
switching back to 12 hour settings again.

It changes the time from pm to am on my PC too. My clock is set to 24hr
format. This is the time format I'm using: HH:mm:ss (separator = ':')

Hello Ralf,

this fix it!

Go to start/Control Panel/Country settings
Change Language to US Inglisch.

Open MSA change all your time settings the way you wont.
Then go back to set your default Language.
MSA will scan and update on the right time!

When you change the system setting back to use 24 hour time, MSAS
changes the scheduled time to morning (AM).

Does the time of the scheduled event, in fact, change? i.e. does the event
happen in the afternoon, even though the UI shows a morning time?
