Scheduled tasks

I am a great believer in securityCan I start of by saying I am not a
technical person. I am trying to get a backup programme to run each morning.
I want it to do this even when the dcomputer is hibernated. Tried using
scheduled tasks but it keeps asking me for a password. Don't have one and
don't want one. I am the only person that uses this computer and I don't
want to be bothered with user accounts and logging on.

I am a great believer with security, especially when going on the web etc,
but I can't believe that wanting to run a simple programme once a day needs
all this rigmarole. Can any one help.

You mustn't believe in security all that much if you have no user account
passwords (and don't want them) on your computer.

Look through those.

I think the best solution is for you to assign a password and start logging
on with your great belief in security. heh

However - forgoing that - perhaps assigning a password to your account
and/or another account and running the scheduled tasks with either the other
account or yours (if yours and you still don't want to logon with a
password - setup automatic logon) and just don't forget that password.

In other words...

- Create an additional administrative level account with a password.
- Ensure that account has the access needed to do what you need.
- Create the tasks and use that account to run them.

OR

- Add a password to your account.
- Change it so you automatically logon and the screensaver does not go back
to the Welcome screen.
- Create the tasks and use your account to run them.

Thanks, will try that. As to security, my security starts with the front
door and windows and they are very secure.

If this PC is connected to the internet and access to it is not gained
via doors or windows, but by logging onto it remotely.

Time to break old habits, you need a password
(any password) for task scheduler to run.

If you are using the built in account named
"Administrator" instead of an account you
created, I suggest you break that habit also.
Sooner or later you will wish you had that
"Admin" account keep in reserve.
