Scheduled Tasks problems

I'm the only one who uses my computer so I didn't set a password for my user
id because I didn't want to have to mess with it everytime I turn it on.

The problem occurred when I wanted to set up a scheduled task. Because I
don't have a password set, the task wouldn't start. So the only solution
that I could figure out is to create another user which hass a password and
use that user to create scheduled tasks.

Is there a simpler way to do this?

Sure. Just add a password to your existing account.

Won't that put me back to where I don't want to be which would be entering my
password at start-up?

No.

You can avoid having to enter the password at startup. Go to Start |
Run, type "control userpasswords2" Select the account you want to
logon to automatically. Then uncheck the box "Users must enter a user
name and password to use this computer."

Or do the same thing with TweakUI.

And by the way, for the future, please quote enough of the message you
are replying to to put your reply into context, as I did above. I
almost missed that this was a reply to me without it.

Thanks.

What is the rationale for needing a password to run scheduled tasks on a
computer with only one account?

Okay, that worked fine for boot-up but when it comes back from hibernating,
it still asks for a password.

If this is aggravating for you, think about what it is like for me. :)

Thanks.

Sorry, I have next to no experience with hibernation. Perhaps someone
else can help there.

Not a problem. I'm always glad to help when I can.

To avoid being asked for a password when coming back from
hibernation, do the following;

Go to Control Panel and open Power Options.
Click on the Advanced tab.
Om the Advanced page, remove the check mark from the box next
to "
Prompt for password when computer resumes from standby".
Click OK.

Good luck

Thanks. There's just too many options with XP. I'll probably still be
figuring stuff out when Vist IX comes out.
