Scheduled Tasks behaving funny.

I have a bunch of tasks that kick off during various times of the day to
do various things. Recently, I installed an application that added its
own scheduled task. Since then my existing tasks (as well as the newly
installed tasks) are no longer interactive. The tasks kick off and I
see them in the Task Manager, but I don't see them on my screen. I know
that they are working because significant CPU is being taken up. It's
like the apps start on some phantom hidden desktop.

I've tried several things:
1. I've added a dummy task (bring up Calculator) using the Add New Task
UI and the calculator cannot be seen.

2. I've added a dummy task (bring up Calculator) using the SCHTASKS
command and the calculator cannot be seen.

3. I've added a dummy task (bring up Calculator) using the ancient AT
command with the /Interactive switch the calculator did come up.

It seems like the Interactive switch has been set to off as a default.
Another thing I've tried on tasks created by Add New Task UI or the
SCHTASKS command is setting the tasks only to 'Run only if logged on'.
In that case, the command doesn't even kick off.

What can I do to fix the situation (short of repaving the PC).

Thanks.

Invoke the tasks under the same account as your logon account.

Invoke the tasks under the same account as your logon account.

They are invoked under the same account.
