Scheduled Scan Problems

Hi

I have scheduled a time for the antispyware scan but it does not run if I am
not logged on.

Do you have to be logged on to make scheduled scan work?

Do you need to be the administrator?

Using the administrator account I scheduled an Antispyware scan using the
Scheduled Tasks on Control Panel. This did not work as well. I did this
yesterday and when I looked in the morning the summary it still says no scan
happened.

Please advise.

Yes, you need to be logged on to the computer as an Administrator to run a
scheduled scan. The next release (beta 2), should run as a system wide
service allowing you run scheduled scans even when logged off. There is
presently no integration with the Windows Scheduler, but hopefully there
will be in beta 2, in the mean time, you have use the built in one that
comes with MSAS.

Hi Andre

Do you mean I can't even run the built-in scheduled scan in the antispyware
software if I am not logged in as a user account with administrator rights?

Another thing...

Can I do a remote command from say "remotescope software" to execute MS
Antispyware with the following command line C:\...\giantantispywaremain.exe
-scan -withui?

At the moment it just gives me an error 101 and does not run.

Thanks

It really is very important that the scheduler be fixed to run even if no one
is logged on, i.e., the logon dialog is showing.

I don't know if it's possible to run a scan that way since the app isn't
loaded into memory until Windows loads. A solution would be to launch a scan
when you first log into Windows, but before anything else loads into memory,
which is how Giant AntiSpyware worked when trying to remove items that could
not be fully removed during the initial scan and removal (i.e., when you
rebooted and logged back on).
