scans at startup?

could anybody please enlighten me as to why my computer scans at start up it
drives me mad. I'm a novice at these things. I dont know which program it
is to change the settings. I dont have windows defender, or adware program
set to automatically scan. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Without knowing what program is performing the scan, no one can offer
more than a lucky guess as to what to do about it.

One way you might find out which program performs the scan is to check
the programs you have set to start with Windows.

What "scan" is it running? What does it say when it's scanning? Please
write down anything you can in the scan window and that may help determine
what is doing the scanning.

thats the problem I dont know what is? I start up it takes ages, I can
hear scanning, it and computer is very slow, virtually cant do anything for
about 45 mins. Is there a way of checking whats scanning?

Ah, ok. So you're referring to noises that you're hearing, not something
that you're seeing saying "scanning"?
