SCANNING

Anyone know how to convert a scanned document to Open Office/ Or save the
scan to Works Word Processor that can be edited afterward? I've tried PDF
but can't edit. The scan also looks a little fuzzy. Can I make the scan
sharper? Using a HP all in one printer, copier, fax machine.

From your description, your scan was in a graphics format. To accomplish
what you want to do, you will need to scan to an OCR application.
Hopefully, the scanner came with an OCR program, or you might be able to use
third party software such as ViewScan Pro that comes with OCR capability.
Making the scan sharper can usually be accomplished with a graphics/photo
processor, such as Paint Shop Pro.
Saving to a word processor can be done, but without an OCR application, you
will end up with a picture of the document, instead of editable text.

As already noted you need OCR (Optical Character Recognition) Software.
A straight scan is an image - a picture.
You have to "scan" it through OCR or to a PDF and then OCR the PDF.

Do a google on "Free OCR Software" and choose and experiment until you find
one you like.
Spend a couple of bucks and buy something like OmniPage and PaperPort if
you're going to be doing much of this type of activity.
