scanner question..please help

I dont know if this is the right place to come to ask this
i have a radio shack police scanner and it was working good ... I could
get several good channels and frequencies until a wind storm hit last
week. Now I cant get anything but my local stations. I have an indoor
antenae and a desk top scanner. Does weather conditions affect
transmission of different channels and frequencies?
