Saving w/long filename to server 2003

Mark

I just set up Server 2003 on an existing peer-peer network
with 5 Win98 PCs and 3 Win XP Pro PCs (new). They all use
Word 2000. 2 of the Win98 PCs will not allow saving a new
doc to the server with long filenames. A message comes up
saying it has to be in the 8.3 format. I can save long
filenames to the local drive, and on the server I can
save, as well as on all other PCs. They worked fine
before the upgrade. It was a Win98 peer-peer network.
I've tried different usernames and different folders on
the server. Wordpad will save with long filenames. I can
open an existing doc from the server with a long filename,
make changes, and save it. I've checked the knowledge
base and can't find anything. HELP!!

Sorry no! I cannot imagine anything in Word that would be responsible for
this. It is almost certainly a network/operating system issue.
