saving TEXT as a .BMP -NOT- being jagged?

Hi all...

Long story short... I've created a color flyer. I was getting ready to send
it to the printers to have several thousand made. I just discovered that
any/all TEXT in the .bmp file appears VERY jagged when printed out --
regardless of how large/small the text is.

Is there any program/way to have the text in a .bmp print out without being
jagged?? (or is there some other picture format that I can save it in that
would not have jagged text). The only solution I could come up with is to
'white out' the text in the .bmp and then import the large .bmp into Word
and then type the words (over the .bmp picture). But I figure there MUST be
a better way to do this.

Any help would be ENORMOUSLY appreciated. Thank you in advance.

If you resize a picture in Word containing text, the text will be distorted
(jagged).
But if you use e.g. IrfanView to resize the picture before importing it to
Word it will be as nice as it is in IrfanView.
