Saving problems . . . sometimes

Hi

I have used MM2 for some movies already and was working on one project that ends up 73Mb and just about 10 mins long (from analog camera) but this one project will not save to computer. It stops at 56% and then the time goes up and up and up! Have tried 'normal' fixes - new computer 512MB 101Gb left and 3Ghz. Any ideas?

Do you know if you happen to have DirectX 8.1 or 9.0 installed? If you do a
Start..Run and type in dxdiag it will tell you near the bottom of the dialog
that comes up.

I have seen other reports of this behaviour. In my experience typically it
happens on faster machines that have two processors or maybe have
hyperthreading enabled and also when there are a bunch of transitions on he
timeline. Does this apply in your case?

Sometimes just trying to save your movie again will work, as it doesn't
always repro 100% of the time. If in your case it is consistenly failing
then the other suggestion I have is to save your movie as a DV-AVI file
first. To do this, when you're on the Movie Settings page choose "Other
Settings" and select DV-AVI from the list (if Other Settings isn't visible
then click "Show more choices...").

Play back the resultant DV-AVI file to make sure that it's OK. If so, then
just import that file into MovieMaker, drag it down to the timeline then
publish it again as a WMV file with your choice of profile. Once you're
finished rememember to delete the DV-AVI file created in the first step if
you want to reclaim the disk space back as DV-AVI files can be quite large.

Hope this helps

Hi - I have Direct X 9.0b (for my sins). Have tried saving to diff sources and files and still have same problem - it always sticks at 55% for some reason! Can't it past this at all. It could be the transitions - but only have about 5 transitions in the clip along with music. It is a pretty basic movie actually.

Thanks

i keep trying

Hi Tim,

There's a number of things that might be the issue. Maybe the Problem
Solving > Can't Save a Movie page of www.papajohn.org will help.
