Saving movie problem

I have created a movie project using photos, music & narration that is 80
mins. long. When I save the movie to my computer, it doesn't save the entire
movie, it cuts off about the last 1/4 of the pictures, but the music
continues to play. I've been trying to read the different forums about
problem solving and saw mention of saving the movie in pieces, then adding it
back into the timeline. How do I save the movie in pieces? I've created movie
projects before and burned them to DVDs with no problems, but this one has
the most pictures and is the longest one I have done.
Help please!

Sounds like your thinking the project is too complex which is possible.
To save it in pieces and find out if this truly is the problem you would
delete like half the clips in the project and then save what is left to a
movie file. If there is more than one audio clip then I recommend using the
beginning and/or end of an audio clip as the points where you delete stills
so you will be able to create a apparently seamless movie in the end. After
your movie is created you can reload the original project and delete the
other clips (the ones you already used to create the 1st movie) and create a
movie with what is left. Do this as many times as you feel is necessary
(maybe only 2 separate clips since it seemed to allow 3/4 of the movie to be
created to begin with)
Once completed import the clips you created and drag them to the timeline
and add the transitions you want between them and now create your final
finished movie.
This may seem a bit complex but if the complexity of the project is truly
what is causing your problem then this should solve it. If you still have
problems with the final 1/4 of your project then I would look at the
filetypes being used and possibly the culprit is in a bad or unsupported
file.

Originally I was saving the movie at the recommended setting for playback on
my computer. I tried this several times, but never saved the entire movie.
The last time I saved it I used the DV-AVI setting and it saved the entire
movie. I have burned several DVDs and everything seems to be working fine.
Don't know what the deal was here, but thanks for your timely response. I'll
print your reply for future reference.

hmmm, I'm not sure what happened there either.
Some filetypes are strange in that sometimes they work and sometimes they
don't (different files) but I have never run into one that will work once
but not another time and definitely not because of saving as AVI instead of
WMV. The only thing I can think of is that there was a codec issue and it
didn't affect saving the movie to AVI.
