I am trying to save an excel spreadsheet (Excel 2002) in
*.csv format; I have made changes to the number format of
a cell (decimal places changed from 2 to 4). I rec'v an
error, and the changes are lost when I reopen the file as
*.csv.

Is there any work-around to this? -thanks, Vivian

When you saved it as a .csv file, you lost all the formatting/formulas that make
it pretty--it's simply plain text.

When you reopened the .csv file, excel just sees it as raw data. (If the 4th
position were a 0 (like 123.4560), then excel would now show 123.456.

If you want to keep the format, you'll have to keep it a workbook (or reapply
the formatting when you reopen it).
