Save as a Word document

For some reason the Save as selection in the drop down File menu has
disappeared. I have Save and Save as Web Page. I have to click on Save as Web
page and then manually change from Web page to Word document. I have tried to
reset the default to Save as Word document but it will not change. Any ideas?
