save a document

I am trying to save my documents on a cd-rom disk, but they
are written as "read only" on the disk. How do I turn off
the read only on the cd disk?

Upgrade to Windows XP.

However, even if they are _not_ read-only you'll run into problems of
document corruption saving to a CD from Word, not to mention you'll use up
your CD a lot faster. CDs do not work like hard drives, not even RW CDs. Use
Word with documents on your hard drive. Use Windows or burning software to
copy back and forth to the CD.

See the MVP FAQ: <URL: http://www.mvps.org/word/> which is awesome!
