Sata and ide issue...

Okay,here is the issue.

I have a Asus A8n-SLI mainboard, everything has worked well and no problems.

until... using a seagate 7200.8 250GB sata disk as c: drive, and 2 ide 100gb
as storage. the installation of xp works, but after a while. usaly after a
restart this message appears: "disk boot failure, insert system disk and press
enter" the sata disk cannot be booted from again, the strange thing that i
found out is that windows changes the c: drive to e: drive? and the two
other- ide drives are c and d.
how can i get windows to make my sata disk, c: drive permantly? it changes
to e: everytime, anyone had this issue before?

cheers John

I have the same mobo as you. Disconnect all Hard Drives except the SATA
drive. Then install Windose. This should solve your problem. Once you install
Windose you can reconnect the IDE drives.

It's late at night. I meant to say Windows not Windose. Its an old throw back
from my MacAddict days.... Which are long gone.

Cheers,

*Update*
okay,i tried what you said, but i still did the same thing,so i updated the
bios, just incase there was some sata issue with the mobo. But it turned out
that the sata disk was halfway to heaven. the sata connection on the disk was
hanging on by a tread.

so thanks for all the help
