I have been looking at getting a new Samsung printer. I have seen a few
posts on this NG for the ml-1450, but nothing on the ml-2250. Anyone care
to share their experiences about either of these models?

I've had a Samsung 2150, actually the 2152W, which adds network
connectivity and wireless to the base model. I bought this printer
after reading a lot of reviews.
I'm having a ball having the printer directly on my home network,
instead of using one of my systems as the "print server." Haven't
worked with the wireless part yet, but it was only about $30 more, and
it seems like good future-proofing.
I also love duplex printing. Saves paper and bulk. I can't figure out
how Samsung manages the paper paths, but it works 100%.
In favor of the printer, it seems almost 100% jamfree. The one time
(due to wrinkled paper feeding in) I did get a jam, it was so messed
up I needed needle-nose pliers to get the paper out, a bit at a time.
I also used up my month's quota of words my mother never taught me.
But after that one jam, no problems since.
Print quality is really nice, even with grey-scale graphics. 1200 dpi
doesn't hurt there. Print speed is really great. Double-sided
printing works flawlessly.
Only fly in the ointment is the issue of memory upgrades from 16 MB,
with the 128 MB add-in memory stick. The Samsung part uses a
non-standard 100-pin DIMM design. Samsung's part is around $400 (!),
more than I paid for the printer. There are several third-party
products available, but with some problems.
The reports from other people in this group are that one part
(simpletech?) is reported by the printer as having 256 MB, not 128.
Also, one person reported a problem using PS3 at 1200 DPI with the
add-in memory. This problem went away when the memory stick was
removed.
I myself want to do the upgrade, but have hesitated because of these
reports. I believe that there is a Samsung model with 256 MB built-in
so you could avoid this problem. But that was a higher-priced model.
If you're willing to wait a bit, you can get some excellent deals on
EBay. Just search for the printer model you're interested in. If
you're not an experienced EBay-er, then be sure to learn about
feedback ratings and shipping costs and Paypal.
Overall, very satisfied. Real quality printer. the equivalent of a
good, well-aged Cabernet.
I also compared Samsung with Brother and HP. I didn't like Brother's
print quality, and for the same price as the Samsung, HP had nothing
even remotely comparable.
