3 PC's
2 HP XP Home Sp1 all updates
1 IBm ThinkPad XP Pro Sp1 all updates
All 3 have same use name (Owner) with admin rights and guest is enabled
Same Workgroup (WORKGROUP)
IP Address DHCP from Netgear Router set dynamically and or statically setup
IP Address, Subnet, Gateway and DNS
Simple File Sharing is ON on Xp Pro system
One XP home can see all other systems including itself and access shared
resources.
XP Pro system can see and access 2nd XP Home PC and visa versa.
2nd XP Home PC and XP Pro PC can see 1st Xp Home pc but cannot see or open
any resources including shared folders or printers.. I get the typical XP
permission to access resource error.
I have removed NIC drivers and reinstalled and updates (RealTek RTL8139) on
system that cannot be accessed. I have run WinFix to rebuild TCP Stack,
etc., swapped router with another model and updated the firmware.
I enabled Netbios.
In the past any or all of the above fixes resolve the problem.
The only thing I did not do is to replace the NIC on the problem PC.
Any Ideas?
FYI: The last thing when I left is to have all 3 PC install Xp Sp2. I could
not stay for them to finish and restart, so I do not know if that helped.
